Client Challenge Fleet Mortgage Corporation, with 1.5 million customers is the seventh largest mortgage company in the country. Their core servicing system is a 20-year-old COBOL/VSAM mainframe application from FiServ. Fleet was looking to leverage the Internet to provide on-line access to mortgage Asynchrony ... built the middleware components to support the mortgage transactions ... of all 1.5 million customers who have access to the web. information (payment history, tax and insurance information, year-end information, etc) for their borrowers.

Our Approach Asynchrony designed a distributed COM+ middleware architecture to provide a common interface for mainframe and origination system transactions. The origination system is hosted on NT servers. Asynchrony then built the middleware components to support the mortgage transactions. This middleware layer now supports the Internet access of all 1.5 million customers who have access to the web.

Results This same middleware interface was then leveraged by Asynchrony to develop a wireless Palm application that allows trusted third parties to originate loans on their wireless device. This SSL-enabled secure application is currently being test marketed with realtors in the Columbia, SC.

Asynchrony also conducted hands-on, lab-based classes in COM+, Visual Basic and Transaction Integrator technologies to Fleet IT staff, allowing them to become more self-sufficient to successfully maintain and enhance the applications Asynchrony delivered.
